A cognitive behavioral examination on the use of color in the race paradigm. When you know better, you do better. At no other time in our nation's history is there a more relevant time to begin the process of effectively addressing a serious mental health issue.....Racism. However, this book does not challenge the external systemic structures to find the solution, instead it challenges the reader to go inside to find organically authentic answers. Do not mistake the title as a restriction of access for those not considered to be........Black; for the impact on mental health is detrimental to all who participate in this country's system of color and race. Step up to the challenge that is presented here and free yourself from the subliminal control of the social construct of race.

WOW!!! This book was so thought provoking! BLACK will make you take an honest look at yourself and your entire belief system. It was so refreshing to read a piece of work, that challenges the readers to take an inward look at themselves in order to improve their family, their community and the future of their culture. BLACK should be a part of discussions within organizations, universities and corporations when looking to understand the underlying beliefs that cause cultures to remain stagnant and believe that change isn't possible.Product details

BLACK Beliefs Limiting Authentic Cultural Knowledge George Middleton MHC CSAYC 9781520888217 Books Reviews
BLACK is an interesting read for anyone contemplating the question of race, culture, and their place in this dynamic. The author provides detail evaluations, assessments and a "Blactivity"" Workbook making this book both interactive and enlightening.--Vikki Soliday, CMT, Spiritual Practitioner
I found BLACK to be a very compelling book. It provided me an opportunity to take a deep dive into my own life, my own personal beliefs and my own culture to both uncover and discover new perspectives on what I thought racism was and who I was, This book truly helped me articulate my thoughts on paper, and provided me a whole new understanding of myself (It made me want to be a better person) I would recommend BLACK to all walks of life! Challenge yourself, I encourage you to!
Riveting and provocative study of black cultural phenomena! G. Middleton has developed a valuable tool for self-assessment & self-discovery for professionals operating in multiple disciplines especially educational, political, spiritual, & healthcare delivery.
-- C. Grayson, BSN, RN, Author
"BLACK" by George Middleton is an eye-opening book that will certainly have you evaluating your life in areas including education, culture, race, family structure, and finances. Also, this book will give you an opportunity to be authentic with yourself, and George gives you permission to look at life from other cultural groups' perspective as well as your own. George has created some thought-provoking "Blactivities" including a workbook that allows you to see where you stand as an individual in various areas in society. "BLACK" also offers a new viewpoint on life and gives an opportunity to create possible solutions or new ways to bring about effective change. It is a must read! Shanika Moran, Author, Coach
In his book, Black, the author cuts across, and through, paradigms built on the often-faulty concept of race. Or perhaps more accurately, the ways in which racial concepts, ranging from internalized stigma to white privilege, have caused personal and interpersonal damage to the Human Race. Whether you are a person of color or one who experiences ancestral shame and guilt over the systemic access white privilege has unjustifiably handed to you, you will be greatly edified and enlightened by the cultural realities Black guides the reader through. Because this book explores racism as a mental health issue, the reader is led through a directed and inescapable, yet gentle and non-judgmental self-examination which in turn produces genuine self, and other-awareness. I highly recommend this book.
Love this book! Makes you look into the mirror and answer some tough questions.
Compelling, Educational, Eye-opening account of the consciousness or the lack thereof... the disconnect of Heart and Health as black people struggle with our misguided belief! What are you? Who are you? Do you know? Breakdown the barriers, start the dialogue, this book is a "Great Guide".
